Spot's last days -- a true story
I was having the house sprayed for ants and thought this would hurt Spot so I left him at the neighbors for the night.
As I took the cage home the bottom fell out and Spot flew away (he looked happy).
The neighborhood kids searched and searched that night to no avail. Overnight it thunderstormed so Spot's fate seemed certain.
The search resumed at daybreak and Spot was spotted on a neighbor's roof.
I was called to assist and I went on the roof to rescue Spot. He reluctently came to me and was safely returned home.
At this point I decided to clip his wings. In the process Spot died. I tried mouth to beak recesutation, but nothing worked.
The funeral was yesterday. His headstone reads, "Here lies Spot the bird, one of the best birds in the world."
